Twegerane is a Kinyarwanda expression and invitation to make room by specifically squeezing in. I love this the most about my language: community and togetherness are baked into so much of our everyday speech. This was inspired by a reunion my friends and I had recently and briefly in New York. Notice the empty space on the couch and the vastness of their pattered background. This piece attempts to capture the subconscious decision we make to occupy space and leave as little of it as possible when we are in each other’s company.
Limited edition print on archival fine art paper. Hand-signed and numbered by the artist with a certificate of Authenticity. Unframed and ships flat. All sales are final.
